The Technology

The Hybrid Sulphur Cycle

The ambition of HySelect is to close the technical gaps and provide the missing links in the overall, complete HyS cycle technology concept, for a realistic overall evaluation of the technology and its scaleup.

Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt

The expertise of the consortium leader covers the field of concentrated solar technologies (CST) with gained know-how from previous projects (HEHTRES, Pegasus), but also catalyst and materials science, high temperature reactors as well as life cycle analysis (LCA), simulation and techno-economic analysis.

Center for Research and Technology Hellas

The Centre for Research and Technology Hellas takes over the development of catalysts and materials and brings in their existing know-how regarding high temperature reactors as well as thermodynamics of the heat-demanding reaction step of the concept in this project.

Aalto University

Research activities of the Aalto University focus on electrolysis include materials design and development of the sulphur dioxide-depolarized electrolyser (SDE) stack.

Italian National Agency for new technologies, energy and sustainable economic development

The Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development brings in expertise in the field of hydrogen production by sulphur based thermochemical cycles and solar driven thermochemical processes, as well as consolidated experience on process simulation and smart control strategies development.

FEN Research GmbH

FEN Research representing the Green Energy Center Europe brings in their know-how regarding research for future sustainable business cases and market study with regards to potential end users and is also taking over the dissemination, exploitation and communication activities.

Green Energy Center Europe

Within the private sector codex partnership of the Green Energy Center Europe, FEN Research collaborates with players from industry and start-ups (currently 16 members, including Hyundai, MPREIS, H-TEC Systems, Teadit, EDC Anlagentechnik, AQT, FEN Systems, etc.) supporting the reconstruction of the energy system towards climate neutrality and energy autonomy in joint project developments and building the bridge to a sustainable green future.

Grillo-Werke AG

GRILLO is the industrial end user of the technology to be developed. They provide the sulphur chemistry for HySelect and support in process design, simulation as well as LCA and recycling strategies.
